READYMADE – From Military to Fashion

Founded in 2013 by Yuta Hosokawa, READYMADE is a Japanese label known for its handmade products made from upcycled materials of old US army equipment. READYMADE's theme is to promote world peace. By upcycling the military materials, Hosokawa thought turning items used for violence and death into items for pleasure would convey his wish for an end to all war. The signature army green hue is applied to iconic handbags such as travel bags and Birkin Bags, Frogman toys and apparel and are now a READYMADE staple.

While much of Hosokawa's work revolves around repurposing old U.S. Army gear to give it a modern twist, another part of his work for READYMADE focuses on creating entirely new products, such as a beautiful wooden Mickey Mouse pot.
