Putting a new face on classic Americana and old Western style is what Japanese designer Kiezo Shimizu has made his mission. And that's exactly what he's been doing since he founded the Needles label in 1997, with just one piece: a loose-fitting suit jacket inspired by one worn by Miles David in the '60s.

While American cultural movements-the work of actors, filmmakers, musicians, and artists-continue to inspire Shimizu, he uses Japanese textiles to design and create a range of eccentric but uniquely American styles with a special touch of Japanese culture.
