He gained his first experience with design during his training as a set designer, sewing costumes and thus the journey began. The ERL brand actually started with an exclusive collection for Dover Street Market LA, which turned into something much bigger. Linnetz interprets American classics, including jerseys, long johns and denim shorts, without getting too caught up in the American Dream". Rather, his designs convey a sense of lightness and creativity that inspires. The reason for this is Linnetz's home in Venice Beach, where he was able to enjoy the feeling of serenity as a child. He sees the opportunity to create as a form of escapism and this is exactly what his pieces express. His palette ranges from unusual patterns that look as if they have flowed out of a lava-lamp straight onto the fabric to basic pieces with a simple yet effective graphic print.
