Basic Art Series: Matisse Cutouts

TASCHEN has been carrying the Basic Art Series since 1985 with a passion for art and architecture. This book deals specifically with Henri Matisse's silhouette works, to which he devoted himself in old age. As Matisse was no longer able to paint later in his life due to illness, he devoted himself to colorful collages and forms. The radical simplification of form brought out some of his most important works, which have been brought together in this volume.
