The NIKE Air Max 3 brings back the iconic running silhouette from 1990 in a striking all-black new version. Designed by Tinker Hatfield, this classic mixes its signature lines with an unusual material combo of denim, nubuck, and mesh. Subtle vintage details give the shoe a modern, intentionally raw vibe. Black mesh on the toe and collar meets a soft-looking nubuck mudguard and denim elements on the sides and eyelet panel. Visible light stitching highlights the different materials, while the deliberately raw edges add a subtle worn-in feel to the classic runner. A small Infrared 23 hangtag adds a pop of color, nodding to the iconic Air Max 90 colorway. Denim is the standout here — it gives the otherwise monochrome design a textured, almost utilitarian touch. The black nubuck mudguard contrasts softly with the structured denim, while the mesh keeps things breathable. Inside, a woven label replaces the usual printed size and production tags, reinforcing the shoe’s textile character. Comfort comes from the visible Max Air cushioning in the heel. Together with the classic foam midsole and the legendary waffle outsole, the Air Max 3 stays true to its running roots. The bold silhouette, stitched overlays, and textured materials blend the original’s history with a much more modern look.
